“Plans are important but
planning is everything” a phrase I read a while ago but began to realize it
even before I know it, how many times did we enter a class were we hadn’t had a
plan, not a backup plan but a main plan? How many times did we enter a class
and thought to ourselves:” This teacher clearly didn’t think of a plan.” And
while we are on the spot we can come up with so much to fill the so little time
we have for teaching. The planning we do is so important because it is a
roadmap for us and for students to walk on, the plan itself is not that
important as it is modified, things are added, deleted, and sometimes the whole
plan is discarded. If we are smart enough, we have to always prove our thinking
on the planning process, what works, what doesn’t, if we attempt to verify our
plans according to what the subject we are teaching and according to our
students then we are reflecting on our plans, and reflection is the key to
success.

Yes you're right naela!! Most teachers don't know how significant planning is , because it makes us teachers be well prepared, organized, facilitating students to meet our learning objectives, saves time for teachers to be ready what to teach and do in class
ReplyDeleteWe are asked to plan as teachers on a daily basis. In our planning, we are asked to list the procedures and the evaluation tool we want to assess our students with. Our objectives are more important than our procedures because they shape the learning techniques and the amount of content to be taught. However, most of the time, I would throw my preparation book aside and move to mental planning. This planning comes with training and experience as long as the teacher knows what she is doing.
ReplyDeleteThis quote shows incredible insight. The process of planning, if done properly, provides a way to gain a deep understanding of the problem. Whereas the plan is really just a proposed approach based on current knowledge, and as you have mentioned that the plan itself is not that important since things are added, deleted, and sometimes the whole plan is discarded. Planning is the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to achieve a desired goal.
